During your first visit the doctor gathers a comprehensive medical history and conducts a physical exam. There is ample time to discuss their findings and answer your questions. Unless your condition recommends against it, you will be treated on your initial visit. If your condition requires subsequent care, an individualized treatment plan is established based on your specific needs and goals. Our doctors will explain the nature of your problem, what therapies will be employed in your treatment, how many visits will be necessary, and how much this investment in your health will cost.
Our doctors utilizes a variety of treatments and techniques to address each patient’s unique presentation. Chiropractic adjustments may be employed to reduce pain, improve movement, and enhance nervous system function. Soft tissue therapy helps reduce spasms and makes adjustments more effective. Motorized traction can reduce swelling, improve flexibility and help disc herniations. Active assisted stretching, Kinesio Taping, Active Release Technique (ART), ultrasound and muscle stimulation may be utilized if necessary. Dr.Tesoro and Dr. Cameron might suggest Dry Needle Acupuncture as well.
A growing body of scientific literature indicates that in most cases of back, neck and spinal pain, imaging studies are not necessary and can even make matters worse. At Sopris Chiropractic, we DO NOT require imaging studies as a precursor to treatment. However, if there is clinical justification (ascertained via history and physical examination) for diagnostic studies such as MRI, X-rays, etc... the doctors will make the necessary referral.
It is our belief that the patient is best served when health care providers work collaboratively. The doctors have close working relationships with family practice physicians, internists, orthopedists, neurologists, radiologists and mental health providers. If a patient’s condition would benefit from another healthcare provider’s expertise, our doctors will not hesitate to make a referral.
